Evolving the Network: Open Comment Period

Posted by on July 10th, 2024 Posted in: Blog

The National Library of Medicine has opened a comment period for the Network of the National Library of Medicine (the Network).  This is your opportunity to provide input on the Network programs, which include our National Public Health Coordination Office and the Public Health Digital Library.

See the full request document at Request For Information: Evolving the Network of the National Library of Medicine.

Input and feedback from the RFI will inform how NLM will design the next five-year period for the Network.  We are in the fourth year of the current 5-year program term.  Among many other factors, the next Request For Proposals will be shaped by comments coming from this RFI opportunity.

Comments are encouraged from the following topics

  1. Important priorities that NNLM should address, including those related to the NLM Strategic Plan 2017-2027, changes and advancements in health and healthcare, and technology.
  2. How NNLM could address NLM data and data science priorities.
  3. NNLM services that could be coordinated nationally and/or services that are best coordinated at a local or regional level.
  4. Strategies for collaborating with participants including libraries, health organizations, and community organizations to reach health and information providers and the public more effectively.
  5. Strategies that could be used to address the needs of underserved populations.
  6. Any other topic that may be relevant for NLM to consider in enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the NNLM.

Comments can be submitted electronically to NNLM-RFI@list.nih.gov by August 30, 2024.

NLM supports researchers, healthcare providers, librarians, and members of the public who seek current and trusted biomedical data and information.  With a broad and diverse constituency, it will be important for NLM to hear from the public health sector.  Please take a moment to review the RFI and provide feedback to NLM on the PHDL program and our Office.
