In addition to our September 18 Getting Started with the PHDL class, NNLM offers a variety of learning opportunities recognizing National Preparedness Month.  Eight programs are scheduled throughout the month, we’ll highlight some here, but see the programs for details and registration

 

 

 

 

Communicating Across the Gap: Strategies for Disaster Preparedness and Public Trust

This one-hour session introduces practical communication strategies for public-facing professionals involved in preparedness and response.

This one-hour webinar explores best practices in informal weather education outreach and shares successful examples from the Extreme Events Institute and International Hurricane Research Center at Florida International University.

 Mental Health First Aid  September 17th;  This day-long workshop presents strategies for recognizing signs and symptoms of mental health or substance use challenges and offer support without having to be a mental health professional.  (Note there is a waiting list)

Why Access & Functional Needs Should Be Everyone’s Priority in Community Preparedness  September 10th  3:00 ET/ 2:00 CT/ 1:00 MT/ Noon PT/ 11:00 AKT/ 9:00 HT

This one-hour webinar will give an overview of the access and functional needs framework in emergency response and explain why it is important to plan for emergencies from a resource perspective.  This program will feature expertise from PHDL participant Jefferson County Public Health in Colorado!
