Preprints—scholarly manuscripts posted by the author(s) to openly accessible platforms, usually before peer review—are gaining increased attention as a means for rapid dissemination of scientific research results.
NLM is preparing to launch a pilot project to test the viability of making preprints resulting from NIH-funded research available via PubMed Central. Lessons learned from the pilot will inform future NLM efforts with preprints.
